Cisco Introduces E4200 Wireless Router

Dec 16, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) –
Cisco announced the launch of a new version of its E4200 home wireless-n router.

"Cisco's Linksys products consistently deliver the ultimate performance, quality and usability for today's home networking consumer," said Scott Kabat, director of marketing, Cisco Home Business Unit, in a release. "Our new E4200 v2 fits the bill with fast wireless performance that just works — no hassles, no disruptions."

The Company said the new Linksys E4200 v2 Maximum Performance Dual-Band N900 wireless-n router provides wireless networking speeds up to 450 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band and up to 450 Mbps in the 5.0 GHz band.

The combination of internal and external amplifiers coupled with six antennas help increase the signal strength across greater distances, providing improved home network coverage and reducing dead spots.

The virtual USB feature makes it easy to add printers, storage and other USB devices to the network and with the added 1.2 GHz processor users can experience faster download speeds from their USB connected storage device.

Included in all Linksys E-Series routers is Cisco Connect software, which provides the framework for simple setup and network management for Macs and PCs.

New Mobile App Extends Home Networking Options
Cisco also today launched the first in a series of new mobile apps for Linksys E-Series and X-Series wireless routers called Cisco Connect Express. This new mobile app — available for the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android phones — helps users to monitor and make changes to their home network using other connected devices beyond their PCs. With the proliferation of mobile devices in the home, Cisco is opening up new ways for consumers to access and get more use from their home network.

The Linksys E4200 v2 Maximum Performance Dual-Band N900 wireless-n router is now available at online retailers and at the Linksys online store.

The Cisco Connect Express app is now available for no charge at the Apple App Store or Android Market. The mobile app works with most Linksys E-Series and X-Series wireless routers. The new app requires that the iOS or Android devices have an active Wi-Fi connection to the home router.

Cisco is a provider of networking.
